Coqui control
They are tiny but their annoying sound is
extremely large. The call of the coqui frog, especially a coqui choir,
can drive you crazy. The frogs as small as a
quarter yet loud as a smoke alarm compete with native birds for
insects. "When there are a lot of them it's just like a din. It's just like like an EEEEE!" said Mark Munekata, a Big Island resident. Males are territorial, to approximately three to five square feet, but their call can travel a quarter mile or more. It's so bad there that real estate contracts now contain a mandatory coqui disclosure. Realtors say it's harder to sell a home with coqui in the neighborhood. They are just about everywhere.
