Beleraphon

Click here to listen. This cut is part of the Late Nights at Ka Huina series, a compilation of rough cuts produced at Ka Huina, an artist's cooperative. This cut was engineered by Sofa, who also provided most of the instrumental tracks. Mahalo, Sofa! Sadly, Sofa took his own life in October of 2003. He was a kind and gentle man who is deeply missed. Who knows what pain lies in another's heart? Hopefully his life will be a lesson to all of us to cherish our friends while we have them.

You came riding back on a steed of shining silver

With steel wings, Pegasus his name

Oh, Beleraphon, don’t fly too close to the sun

For its heat will singe your wings

When you stood within my doorway, the light upon your face

Made me remember what I saw in you

The flame, yes, it still flickers, and oh, I still remember

The things we used to do.

But though you came back riding on a steed of silver

With steel wings, Pegasus his name

Oh Beleraphon, don’t fly too close to the sun

For its heat will singe your wings

I think we both know we can’t pick up where we left off

I burned the bridge on which you walked away

So much water has flowed by and carried off the ashes

I just haven’t got the heart to have you stay.

And now you’ve gone away on your steed of shining silver

With steel wings, Pegasus his name

Oh Beleraphon, we flew too close to the sun

And its heat has singed our wings
